Returns & Exchanges: Textbooks


How long do I have to return/exchange textbooks?

For the Fall and Winter Semesters:

  • Textbooks must be returned within the first week of classes for a 100% refund. Or through the fifth week of classes with proof of drop.
  • Current sell back value will be offered after the return deadlines.

For the Spring and Summer Semesters:

  • Textbooks must be returned within the first week of classes for a 100% refund.
  • Current sell back value will be offered after the return deadlines.

Can packaged books or access codes be returned

Books packaged with workbooks, online access codes, DVDs or CDs must be returned with all components unopened and unused. Access codes can be returned if unopened and unused.


Where do I go to return or exchange textbooks at GVSU Laker Store?

Returns and exchanges can be brought to the customer service desk at GVSU Laker Store. In Allendale, the customer service desk is located inside the store. In Grand Rapids, the customer service desk is located outside of the store at the Mail Center/Copy Services window. Returns and exchanges for online purchases can be brought into the store or sent to:

How long do I have to return/exchange general merchandise?

Clothing and gifts may be returned/exchanged within 90 days of purchase.

Returns and exchanges can be brought to the customer service desk at GVSU Laker Store. In Allendale, the customer service desk is located inside the store. In Grand Rapids, the customer service desk is located outside of the store at the Mail Center/Copy Services window. Where do I go to return or exchange technology at GVSU Laker Store?

Returns and exchanges can be brought to the Laker Tech desk on the 2nd level of GVSU Laker Store’s Allendale location.


Apple® Branded Products:

Computers, iPads, iPods, and Beats by Dre™ can be returned up to 14 days from the date of purchase. All open item returns will be charged a 15% restocking fee. Returns beyond 14 days are not allowed and will fall under manufacturer’s warranty.

Apple accessories can be returned up to 14 days from the date of purchase. Any opened accessories over $40 will have a 15% restocking fee, and defective products may be exchanged with no restocking fee. Original packaging required for all returns and exchanges.

Computers, iPods and iPads must be restored to factory settings and all personal content removed before a return will be considered.

Any damaged or unsanitary items will not be accepted for returns.


Software:

Software that is unopened and in original condition with a receipt can be returned within 14 days of purchase for exchange or refund.

Defective software can be exchanged for the same product within 30 days of purchase (no refunds will be made). Beyond 30 days, products fall under manufacturer’s warranty.

Special orders require payment up front and cannot be returned.

GVSU Department software licenses cannot be returned.

Any software that includes a key code or digital content cannot be returned after package is opened.


Hardware:

Computer and technology items that are $100 and above can be returned up to 14 days from the date of purchase. All open item returns will be charged a 15% restocking fee (in-stock computer models will be charged a maximum of $100). Returns beyond 14 days are not allowed and will fall under manufacturer’s warranty. All components and original packaging must be present at time of return or return will not be accepted.

In-stock accessories can be returned within 14 days, but must have original packaging.

Ink and batteries are non-returnable if opened. Defective products can be exchanged for the same product within 30 days of purchase (no refunds will be made). Beyond 30 days, products fall under manufacturer’s warranty.

Any damaged or unsanitary items will not be accepted for returns.

Computers and tablets must be restored to factory settings and all personal content removed before a returned will be considered.


School and Art Supplies:

Supplies may be returned within one week of purchase. All merchandise must be in its original condition and original packaging, with tags attached.


Photography Supplies:

Photography supplies may be returned within one week of purchase. All light-sensitive photo supplies (ex. Paper, film, etc.) must be returned with protective packaging intact or they will not be eligible for a return or exchange.
